about

Hi, I’m James and I don’t appear on this album (although I am alluded to in the best song—The Pain In James). I joined Look Who’s Toxic right after they completed recording all this stuff and I gotta say, for a collection of songs that are completely devoid of my vocal and keyboard skills, they’re not bad.

It’s been good fun performing with Look Who’s Toxic, being on stage whilst Rob shows off his unique chest to the audience and Craig gives birth to an already-decapitated baby and Paul is… well, being Paul.

The songs on Whiskey and Wine clearly show that whilst Look Who’s Toxic isn’t suffering from writer’s block, the band was definitely crying out for a fourth wheel for the Toxic bandwagon. Fortunately, the songs stand strong despite the aforementioned setback. I can’t think of another song that celebrates being hairy quite like You’re All Hair. The terraced dynamics of Brown Shoes, Green Onion would make J.S. Bach proud. And has there ever been a better sing-along chorus than the one in Potato Famine Waltz?

The listener will certainly feel they got their money’s worth from this album and attending a Look Who’s Toxic live show will only heighten the joyful experience. Especially now that they’re a quartet.
